What is a .flataix1 file, and how do I convert it?

Quite simply, the .flataix1 file is nothing more than a .exp file in disguise. (in most cases) This is a file extension that is commonly used by some data translation companies, to charge unsuspecting suppliers fees for work that they could otherwise do themselves. Anyone who has Catia V4/V5 already has the ability to work with these files. All that must be done to make them usable, is to change the "flataix1" extension to "exp", by right clicking on the part, and selecting "rename". After this has been done, simply run the file through the proper EXP extraction utility. (which one to use will depend on whether you have V4 or V5)

Other file extensions which have been known to use this trick are:

.flataix
.flatfile
.flatfile1

If you know of any other file extensions, please contact us, and we will update the list.

Please note: *These files may not always be Catia files* You can double check which CAD system the file is derived from by opening the file in a plain text document, and reading the headers. Since we deal with mostly Catia files, we assume this as our context. (we assume most of our readers are finding us on Catia related inquiries)

Anyone who has ever paid for one of these translations, even after having asked to know how to do it, and was denied the information, we encourage you to complain to Chrysler, and any other OEM which has sent you data in this format.

Are you a certified government contractor?

Yes, we are.

We are listed in the Central Contractor Registry, (CCR) under the corporate identity, "Space Coast CAD Solutions", have a DUNS number, which is monitored, and are certified under the US/Canada Joint Certification Program. (DD Form 2345)

Our company is qualified to receive unclassified military and space critical technology. All data is handled in accordance with the established control (and disclosure) procedures for such data.

I need you to "prove" your work to me. Will you provide a sample?

We would be happy to provide a sample of work to you. But we will, under NO circumstances, do anything specific to a customer project, without a P.O. (purchase order) Any "project proving", other than our standard work sample, will need to be paid for. We must do this for our own protection.

Let me explain this position further: We are not freelancers. We have done hundreds (if not thousands) of projects for legitimate customers. As a natural result of having a successful operation, we are constantly bombarded with requests for "sample" work, which will ultimately (we are told) will lead to "much more work". Unfortunately, this is not the case. Most of these requests result in the "sample" work being the only portion of work that needs to be done. 99% of the time, the sample requester will never be heard from again.

This is one of the characteristic scams that plague CAD service providers. As a result, we cannot dedicate our resources to providing free customer samples, outside of our own templates. We suggest that any customer with large projects should first select one portion of the job, and contract us to perform work on the "sample" first. If satisfied, we can progress to the rest of the job.

We guarantee quality in our work. There is no need to be worried about our advertised capabilities. We pride ourselves on quality, and guarantee satisfaction. Like all reputable companies, we value our reputation, and how we are viewed by our customers.

What kind of turnaround time should I expect from you?

You should expect whatever kind of turnaround that you need! (so long as you don't need it yesterday) If we cannot meet your deadline, we will not tell you that we can. Critical deadlines are our specialty, and we always respect our customers' committed dates.

Can I see some of your CAD design projects?

Simply put - no.

We have a very high regard for our customer data. We do not feel that it is our right to share CAD images from past or present projects, without the express written permission of the data owner. (corporate home, not the controlling design department) We do not have any agreements in place with any company granting us permission to share images of their proprietary data, nor do we seek it. This would run counter to the whole notion of confidentiality and non-disclosure. So to answer more directly, we don't share CAD images, because they aren't ours to share.

Will you sign Non-Disclosure-Agreements? (NDA)

Yes. This is our standard operating procedure. We prefer to do business under NDA whenever possible.

What is your rate?

As of December 2006, we have decided to publish our rates on this site. You may find our rate scedule here.

Is your software legally licensed?

Absolutely. We refuse to use pirated, hacked, or cracked software, of ANY kind. This not only puts our business in jeopardy, it also puts our customers at risk. The risks of using illegal software far outweigh the actual purchase price of even the most expensive CAD packages.

We believe in upholding intellectual property rights, with the same amount of care and vigilance as we do in protecting the proprietary and confidential nature of customer data.
